Hello

We have downloaded the lite version of begraphic and are interested in exporting the gauge display to powerpoint. When in excel the graphic updates OK but when we export to power point the gauge will not update when we change the values in excel. Is this possible, if so how?

Regards

Dear Glen,

Right now (in 2010) my preferred solution is to use our "export to PowerPoint" function - even if it is static.

If you want to get a dynamic link, it should be possible by using standard PowerPoint functions:
  • copying the range in Excel,
  • then in Powerpoint choosing Edit|Paste Special, As link “Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object”,
  • checking Paste Link
  • and clicking OK
  • Nb: Here are documentations:
http://www.uwec.edu/help/PPoint07/linking.htm
http://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00593.htm
http://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/books/fixingpowerpointannoyances02.html

But Microsoft Office “Paste Special / Excel object” function has bugs:
  • many times it forgets some freeforms when there are several layers of shapes
(e.g.: background image inside the gauge)
  • it doesn’t handle well translucent pictures (So don’t put a glass on gauges)

There will be a third solution in the beginning of 2011. There will be a version Pro of BeGraphic that will include a full PowerPoint 2007/2010 version (or at least “dynamic update” of any graphics and charts).

Best regards

BeGraphic Team.
