Dear Glen,
Right now (in 2010) my preferred solution is to use our "export to PowerPoint" function - even if it is static.
If you want to get a dynamic link, it should be possible by using standard PowerPoint functions:
- copying the range in Excel,
- then in Powerpoint choosing Edit|Paste Special, As link “Microsoft Excel Worksheet Object”,
- checking Paste Link
- and clicking OK
- Nb: Here are documentations:
http://www.uwec.edu/help/PPoint07/linking.htmhttp://www.pptfaq.com/FAQ00593.htmhttp://www.indezine.com/products/powerpoint/books/fixingpowerpointannoyances02.htmlBut Microsoft Office “Paste Special / Excel object” function has bugs:
- many times it forgets some freeforms when there are several layers of shapes
(e.g.: background image inside the gauge) - it doesn’t handle well translucent pictures (So don’t put a glass on gauges)
There will be a third solution in the beginning of 2011. There will be a version Pro of BeGraphic that will include a full PowerPoint 2007/2010 version (or at least “dynamic update” of any graphics and charts).
Best regards
BeGraphic Team.
